I am thrilled to announce that my debut novel LET’S TALK ABOUT LOVE is nominated for Best Young Adult Fiction in the Goodreads Choice Awards!
My book baby is in excellent company and tbh, I’m not sure if I belong there with those amazing books, but I’m happy nonetheless!
If you’d like to vote for LTAL and see Alice move on to the next round, you can vote here.
It was impossible to create one tweet or Instagram post that fully encapsulated how shocked I was to receive this nomination. I was half asleep, checking my twitter DMs, and saw a message from a fellow writer, Linsey Miller congratulating me. (READ HER BOOKS. THEY’RE GOOD. I PROMISE)
I frowned, pursed my lips, and squinted.
I said, “What the fuuuuu—OMG!”
Even now, I still can’t believe LTAL is there with the other nominees. I keep checking the page, waiting for it to disappear, keep waiting for a retraction email. I don’t think I have a chance to move on to the next round but it was truly such a special honor just to be nominated.
I’ll let you in on a little secret: I have a really hard time talking about and promoting LTAL. It’s my book and I’m very proud of my hard work (while simultaneously recognizing it could be better) but my brain naturally assumes everyone will hate it. When cool things like being nominated for awards happen, they often make me cry and leave me speechless. So, thank you to everyone who has been able to do what I cannot: love and support LTAL out loud, and without fear.
Right now, I’m keeping track of my NaNoWriMo adventures over on Instagram as I attempt to write two books at once! And if you know me, you know I’m gonna fail! But I’m still going to try.
I don’t blog often but I am planning a massive year in review post because so much has happened this year…
Until December,
Claire ❤
